Flax Seeds Are a Good Source of Vegan Omega 3
These tiny seeds pack a powerful nutritional punch. Flax seeds are a good source of vegan Omega 3, and they’re also high in protein and fiber.
Flax seeds come in two common varieties: brown and golden flax seeds. The nutritional content seems to vary slightly depending on the variety. According the nutritional information from the Nature’s Path brand of organic brown flax seeds, two tablespoons contain about 4 grams of plant-based Omega 3, about 4 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber and 6% of the average adult’s calcium needs. Although flax seeds are also an excellent source of vegan Omega 3 fatty acids, there are also vegan Omega 3 supplements available.
Two tablespoons of flax seeds can give your cookies, smoothies and salads a powerful nutritional boost.
Note: flax seeds can interfere with some diabetes medications. Check with your Doctor before incorporating into your diet.
