Nuts: A Heart Smart Protein
We know that nuts have a high protein content, but did you know they can also decrease your risk for heart disease? According to the Harvard School of Public Health, eating a handful of nuts several times a week can reduce your risk of cardiac disease by 30 – 50%. The FDA even allows some nuts, and foods made with nuts, to carry this claim: “Eating a diet that includes one ounce of nuts daily can reduce your risk of heart disease.”
Add some walnuts to your yogurt, some pecans to your salad or a few pistachios on your ice cream. Your taste buds AND your heart will be happy.
