Vegans Around the World: Patisserie Universelle Opens in London!


Welcome, Patisserie Universelle!

Join us in celebrating the official launch of Patisserie Universelle in London.  This start-up is the brainchild of two young social entrepreneurs:  vegan patisserie specialist Alexander Paul Burton and graphic designer/food enthusiast Aftab Arab.  The corporation has been registered as a Community Interest Company in England (similar to, but not exactly like, a nonprofit corporation in the United States) in order to emphasize its commitment  to providing products and services which meet important public needs.

Alex explained, “Because our products are ‘universal,’ they can be eaten by people who have special dietary or ethical needs as well as people who do not.  That means we will have products which are vegan-friendly, egg-free, gluten-free, and nut-free.”

Patisserie Universelle’s first products are baking kits – dry product mixes – for home use which can be purchased online in Europe:  Voila!  Vegan profiteroles for dessert.  (Alas, we will have to wait a while until the products are available for the American market.)

The new company also offers catering services as well as lessons and demonstrations on the art and artistry of patisserie.   For more information about upcoming activities, sign up at the website:
