Vegan Diets on the Rise Among Celebrities
Jump on the Plantwagon!
Hollywood life has always been about the newest and hippest trends, and now it’s taken celebrity eating habits by storm. Vegan diets are now becoming a more common option to maintain a healthy weight, help the animals, and help the environment. Some like celebrity Alicia Silverstone have gone on to write their own cookbooks, hers called The Kind Diet. House TV star Olivia Wilde has raved that being vegan has given her more energy and improved her health. Glee star, Lea Michelle made the switch to veganism after moving to the west coast for her role and says it’s “about being good to your body and the planet.” Since turning vegan singer Alanis Morisette lost twenty pounds and turned her attention to healthy living by participating in marathons like the NYC Marathon.
Hollywood’s leading ladies aren’t alone at the forefront of the vegan lifestyle; lots of celeb men are realizing the health benefits of a vegan diet as well, including stars like Red Hot Chili Peppers Anthony Keidis, talented singer/songwriter Jason Mraz, and “Spiderman” Tobey Maguire. Following a plant-based diet isn’t just a fad for these celebrities, it’s a serious commitment to their health and their beliefs. Tobey Maguire has had a meatless diet since 1992.
It’s great to see these celebrities who are in the public eye bringing about more attention to the wonderful health attributes of a plant-based diet. Not that we expect the paparazzi to be snapping pictures of them enjoying their quinoa, but at least we can hear about it. We’re glad to hear we’re among some talented company!
