Dobra Tea - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Get the Details!
Dobra Tea is a Bohemian-style tearoom specializing in hot tea
, cold tea
, loose leaf tea
, retail pottery, and light vegetarian fare and snacks. It is a meditative environment to enjoy a relaxing cup of tea. Vegan options are clearly marked with “V” on the menu. There are also gluten-free, organic and local items. When I visited, Dobra was out of the vegan raspberry bar, which will hopefully return soon. I tried the Daifuku ($3.25), which is a Japanese confection made with mocha rice dough and a red bean-paste filling. Although I didn’t love it at first, it definitely grew on me. I had never tried anything like it before. I also had the black Indian Assam chai tea simmered with soy milk ($3.25). It was served in an interesting 8 ounce clay cup. It was definitely the best chai tea I ever had. Other vegan options: crystallized ginger, dried fruits, mixed nuts, dolmas (stuffed grape leaves), Moroccan spiced oranges, hummus plate, baba ghanoush plate, and miso soup. Service was excellent. At each table there is a tiny bell to ring when you need anything. Nate, the owner, is very friendly and knowledgeable.
