Marmite might be an acquired taste, but once you acquire it, you’ll never be able to live without it. This English export’s secret ingredient is yeast, which gives it a rich, savory flavor and boosts its Vitamin B content. Its consistency is similar to a thick caramel sauce, but the taste is anything but sweet. Expect a lot of saltiness, a bit of tanginess, and a smidgen of something else that’s hard to define. Now, how do you eat the stuff? Try it the classic way: Slathered on toast. It can also be used like bouillon to flavor soups and gravies. Yum! Not planning a trip to England any time soon?
